Abdominoplasty

Abdominoplasty, more commonly known as a "tummy tuck," is surgery that removes excess skin and fat from the abdomen and tightens the abdominal wall muscles. An abdominoplasty can significantly reduce a protruding abdomen. It's a major surgery, and Dr. Arrington will tell you whether an abdominoplasty is right for you.

The best candidates for abdominoplasty are individuals who are in good shape but have loose abdominal skin or excess fat that simply won't respond to diet or exercise. Multiple pregnancies can leave a woman with this problem, and other individuals have a heredity tendency for a large or protruding abdomen. In addition, an abdominoplasty may be appropriate to correct loose skin that remains after significant weight loss.

Individuals who intend to lose a lot of weight and women who plan future pregnancies are advised to postpone having a tummy tuck until after these life events. Contact Dr. Arrington about your interest in getting a tummy tuck; he will talk with you about your best course of action.
